It's A Legal Matter
So, you not only want to know the truth,
this thing might get ugly... lawyers, judges, lawsuits, etc.
This page is designed to give you some insight into what is in store for you and what "level of service" you need to ask for.
If you are not going to sue someone or use the results of the "document examination" in a court of law, then you can simply hire the best analyst you can find from any state (or country.) We like to think we have some of the best at Expert Document Examiner.com. If it is just personal, please click here.
Clients have used our services in such legal situations as:
A publisher's assistant forged his name to his bank signature cards (giving her access to his account) and created a faked "bill of sale" document in an attempt to embezzle $60,000 worth of money from his bank account and get the legal rights to his books. This case still pending.
A law firm in East Texas discovered someone in their law firm was stealing uncashed checks and cashing them. They had narrowed the list down to two suspects. (One executive secretary and one courier). Our analysis concluded that the courier had "endorsed" and "cashed" the checks to himself.
Before they could fire him, they needed a written "letter of opinion" from a "qualified handwriting expert" so that they could fire him, protect themselves legally, and file criminal charges. The executive secretary was cleared of all suspicions.
A lawyer asked us to supply a written letter of opinion that a check was actually forged. The defendant claimed that the signature on the check to the Funeral Home was signed by their grandmother. (Which was a bit difficult, since it was for her own funeral and it was dated one day after her death.) The lawyer was just being certain he would win the case... he did.
What's the process?
It takes a certain amount of our time and effort to discover the authenticity of a document. Sometimes, it is a quick process and other times it takes hours and hours of working with enlargements, magnifying glasses, and microscopes.
For every document examining case there are two major steps. The first is to discover the authenticity of the writing. (Is it a forgery or not?) The second step is to prepare a "documentation of findings". This second step can be very time consuming and includes enlarged photographs, numbered exhibits, notarized letters, and thoroughly explaining the process of proving to a jury that our "expert opinion" is correct.
If you are planning to present this evidence to a judge or jury, you must have a very well laid out presentation so both your attorney and the judge understand how we came to our conclusions.
Let us know what level of preparation you will need. If your case is beyond the scope of the three basic packages we have listed here, you will be charged an hourly fee of $125 per hour. You will be notified if and when we need to move to an hourly basis.
What's the next step?
Using the power of a fax machine and possibly Federal Express, we can work with you from anywhere in the country. In many cases, we don't need to see the original. Sometimes a photocopy is all we have. And we can often start the process with a fax.
Now, simply choose which of the two pricing options best fits your needs.
